He discussed major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules and his finding that disease resistance associated MHC polymorphism importantly concerns “generalist” alleles that present a large variety of peptides versus “specialist” alleles with a narrow peptide repertoire.

On Friday, August 27, Prof. David B. Alexander gave a presentation to the Journal Club of the Institute for Comprehensive Medical Science (ICMS) and discussed a paper by Dr. Rajeswari Jayavaradhan and co-workers. This paper describes that if Cas9 is coupled with a dominant negative form of 53BP1 this improves the ratio of homology directed repair (HDR) versus non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ) at the Cas9 target site.
